SUMMARY:[Public Debate] Intersectionality in EU Policies: a Step Forward ?
DESCRIPTION:– In collaboration with the EUNMUTE Centre of Excellence – \nRoom: P02 \n  \nOrganisation: Sophie Jacquot (UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles) & Gender5+ \nPresentation: Oriane Calligaro (UCLille) & Serena D’Agostino (VUB) \nPanelists: Anne Pépin (European Commission\, DG Research & Innovation) & Stefi Richani (Equinox) \n  \n \n  \nAbstract: The development of an intersectional approach to EU policy-making is fairly recent at the EU level. However\, for a few years\, intersectionality has been increasingly present in the EU equality agenda\, to the point of becoming one of the pillars of the « Union of Equality » strategies of the current Commission. \n\nThis public debate aims at gathering policy-makers\, members of civil society\, and academics to discuss the achievements and pitfalls of intersectionality in EU policies so far\, as well as its sustainability as an essential principle of the EU’s action on equality promotion in the context of the next European elections and future Commission.
